Product Description
Drum lens is a lens whose two ends are spherical and provide a positioning surface along the optical axis direction. It is formed by grinding the excircle on the basis of the spherical lens for convenient clamping. It is more suitable for the propagation of light in optical communication. Drum lens has shorter focal length and larger magnification than ordinary convex lens, and its focal length depends on the refractive index of the material itself. Because of its short back focal length, it can greatly reduce the distance from the lens to the optical fiber, so the drum lens is mainly used in optical fiber applications.
Borisun optics has drum lenses made of K9 optical glass and UV fused silica. UV fused silica spherical lens has a lower refractive index than K9 spherical lens, so the lens with the same size has a longer focal length. Borisun optics provides uncoated drum lenses based on K9 optical glass and UV fused quartz. Drum lenses of various sizes and focal lengths are available for your choice. Fused quartz is suitable for UV applications.
